Can You Spot the Change?

That's right! We got a king bed! And it's amazing! We had a king bed on our honeymoon and coming home to a full bed just wasn't working. I like my space at night and have been accused of taking up the whole bed, although I don't know that I believe that ;). The king bed gives me plenty of room to spread out while leaving room for Stephen to have space to sleep. It's wonderful as you can see...

Just to give you a visual of how huge this bed is, here is me curled up on my side/maybe taking up part of Stephen's side. :) I wish I had one in the old bed so you could compare.

Here We Go...

Well, the 2011-2012 school year has arrived. I keep forgetting that students will actually be in the building tomorrow. The summer was great! It flew by and here we are at the beginning of a new school year. It's crazy!

If you remember, last year I got in my classroom Sunday before open house was on Monday and school started on Wednesday. It was a mad dash to get things ready for the first day of school. It was SO nice this year to have a lot of time in my room to get ready. Everything is laminated this year and fresh! It's wonderful!

Getting used to Mrs. Snyder has been easier than I expected. I only introduced myself wrong last night at open house once. You'd think that would involve me calling myself Ms. Hemric, but no...I introduced myself as the teacher standing beside me. We had been introducing each other all afternoon and I just said, "Hi! I'm Ms. Zenner! ... I mean... no I'm not...I'm Mrs...Mrs. Snyder!" It was so embarrassing, but we just laughed it off.

We didn't mail out any information to students this summer about teams or schedules so if students wanted to know who their teachers are before the first day of school, they had to come to open house. As a result, we had a great turn out at open house. I think we're going to have a really good group of kids. I'm excited!

So now...
My goals for this school year:
Run two times a week (I debated putting this one out there because I hate running, but I started a running program this summer and did pretty well considering all the craziness with planning a wedding and then getting married. When I put my dress pants on last night for open house, I realized I really need to get back to exercising. So, here it is...hopefully I'll stick to it)
Coupon
Try new recipes
Get plenty of sleep
Be planned for the next week before the week starts
Be done with school when Stephen gets home each night
Enter the year with a mind set of a teacher not a camp counselor
Love on my kids
Be more involved at school
Eat breakfast every morning (This is going to be a tough one! I like my sleep and am not so sure I'll be getting up early to cook breakfast. So, I need something quick and easy. But, I get so tired of cereal bars and stuff like that. But, I know how important it is to eat breakfast. So, if you have any creative, fast, and easy breakfast ideas, please share!)
Blog once a week

And now, welcome to Mrs. Snyder's classroom!
Brand new crayons and colored pencils!
Calculators in their slots ready to go!

I'm on the lightning bolts team this year and I just thought the owl was cute!
Rules to solve word problems. I wish I could take credit for this, but this was all from one of my colleagues, but I love it!

150 spiral notebooks for $1.50? Yes please! Even if I had to go to Staples 6 times in 3 days!
2011-2012 school year, let's go!

Wedding Recap

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Snyder
Friday night we had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. I remember standing at the door of the sanctuary greeting people as they came in thinking how cool it was that I knew everyone and that they were all there for me and Stephen. It was a really nice time with family and friends. We ran through the ceremony twice. I'm a control freak so that really helped me have a better feel for things and know exactly what to expect at the ceremony.

Heather made the groom's cake for the rehearsal. I think it took her 10 cakes to build this masterpiece. Stephen put a TV on our registry so every gift from them incorporated a TV of some sort.
Getting ready on the wedding day...I thought I would have all the time in the world. My hair appointment was at 10 and we even got done early. I wasn't planning on getting to the church until 2, but got there a little after 1. Time flew by though. I wasn't rushed, but was running around right up until the minute it was time to go.
 My beautiful flowers!
 Putting the dress on!
 Ready to go!
 Pre-ceremony pics with the girls!
Me and Allyson, my wonderful maid of honor

 Cake time :)

Our DJ kept the dance floor going with a surprise visit from the village people!

It was hot and it rained most of the evening while we were at the reception, but that didn't keep us from having a good time! Stay tuned for more pics in a few weeks from the professional photographers...

Not Me Monday: Honeymoon Edition

I did not have my bathing suit stolen off of our cabin deck the first night we were there.

I did not sit and enjoy a bubble bath while Stephen frantically looked everywhere for it.

I did not assume that he was just over looking it and I would find it when I looked.

I did not get totally freaked out by Stephen's look of fear when I couldn't find it either.

We did not both begin to replay the Criminal Minds episode where the serial killer steals girls' underwear, locks them in their cabin, and kills them in our minds and begin to fear for our lives.

We did not end up calling the police to come check out around the cabin because we were so scared. someone had stolen the bathing suit.

We did not get a look of "oh, you're some of those tourists" and receive a polite explanation that this happens all the time and that it was probably some type of critter who took them.

We did not check and double check every nook and cranny of the cabin to make sure no one got in.

We did not shut and lock our bedroom door in fear of being murdered in our sleep.

...we did not find the bathing suit 2 days later in the hot tub filter...

PS We did not go to McDonald's several times throughout the week for the free wi-fi to check email and facebook...we were on our honeymoon; we did not care what was going on in the world of technology.

Last Week as a Single Lady

In an effort to remember the whirlwind of a day that my wedding was, I thought I would take a moment and document some of my favorite things from the week leading up to the wedding...

Going to see an 1863 Civil war canon in Steph's front yard
Laying by the pool with Kel
Laying by the pool with Steph and Laura
Listening to Laura say, "Hey sexy!" when she answered my phone thinking it was Stephen when in fact it was his mom!
Taking Steph's advice that, "Either way it's gonna happen; you might as well not be nervous"
Laughing at Steph try to make a decision about her nails
Cramming in as many errands as we could in 2 hrs
Butterflies in my stomach
The few quiet moments with Stephen leading up to Saturday
Hanging out with my nephews and brother and sister in-law.
Those moments when I realized that I'm almost married and getting a big goofy grin on my face
The peace of the Lord, which truly does surpass all understanding, in the midst of the chaos and anxiousness as this life changing event approaches
Being done running errands 2 days before the wedding
Decorating the reception with great friends and family
Getting some type of one-on-one time with each of my bridesmaids
Having a girls night to keep myself sane the night before the wedding
The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner...

It was a great week! It's hard to believe that all the planning and money is over in just a few short hours. It was a blast though and more posts will be coming soon...I'M MARRIED!! That's crazy.
