I discovered this week that it is hard to eat a muffing that still has the wrapper on it in the car while driving.
Secret Santa week makes the last full week before Christmas break just a little bit more bearable.
One of my students asked another teacher the other day if I was pregnant...I'm going to blame it on the baggy shirt I was wearing instead of feel like I need to double the amount of exercise I'm already doing.
The other day one of my students announced that he had the same initials as Kevin Durant.
I sarcastically responded, "You mean your initials are KD?!?"
He said, "Mrs. Snyder, what are you talking about? You just said my first and last name; you know my initials."
"K, do you know what sarcasm is?"
"Sar...what?"
"Sarcasm."
"Sar..ca...HUH?!"
"Apparently not."
Next week is a two day week. I can do two days.
Why when you tell students that they
really need to listen to what you're about to say so that they don't get
really confused when you hand out an assignment do they seem to tune you out more than usual?
I've been pretty grumpy at school lately (hints the lack of posts and student stories). My students annoy me when they ignore me while I'm teaching. And they annoy me even more when they ignore me and then want me to come to them and explain it to them individually. Just listen the first time! We're in our algebra unit right now. When you add letters to math, it blows their minds! I like algebra. I get algebra. When I teach, I teach it the best way I know how the first time. When they don't get it, I can easily get frustrated. I feel like everyone should get algebra because it makes sense. It's logical. I forget 7th graders don't get logic aka they don't get algebra. Anyway...I'm just being honest.
When I told a student I was getting a vacuum cleaner for Christmas he said, "A vacuum cleaner?? Why? You can get those anywhere. What do you really want for Christmas...like something that's fun?" When I told him getting a vacuum cleaner was fun he just looked at me like I had lost my mind and walked away.
EKA Christmas is tomorrow and I can't wait!! :)
